Chapter History

The Kappa Xi chapter of Phi Mu was founded at Livingston University, now named The University of West Alabama, in 1969.

Since 1969, Phi Mu's at UWA have been very active in the community and with national projects. Activities vary from raising money for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals (our national philanthropy) to donating items to local animal shelters and schools. In addition to these projects, the sisters enjoy visiting local nursing homes and volunteering at our local schools. Phi Mu also participates in many on campus activities and organizations such as Student Government Association, Resident Assistants, Resident Hall Directors, Tutwiler Scholars Program, Numerous Honor Societies, UWA Ambassadors, Majorettes, International Peer Ambassadors, Greek Council Members, Softball, Cheerleaders, LEAD, Intramurals, Student Support Services, Marketing Club, Accounting Club, Student Nursing Association, and Exercise Science Club. Not only are we involved, but we carry on many leadership roles in these organizations as well.
