Live Like Libby - Love Like Libby Foundation

On top of raising money for our national Philanthropy, Children's Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH), we also have two adopted philanthropies, #BuckleUpForBeth & the Love Like Libby, Live Like Libby Foundation.

On March 17, 2017, we lost our sister Elizabeth "Libby" Hankins. Libby was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at the age of two and fought every day of her life. She never let the disease slow her down, not even to cheer on the tigers. Many people say that Libby did not have cystic fibrosis, but that cystic fibrosis had Libby.

Libby brought a smile to everyone's faces and brought light to this chapter. On April 17, 2016, our prayers were finally answered, and Libby received a double lung transplant in Duke, North Carolina. She spent eleven months in recovery and was finally able to come home in December 2016. Her family created a Facebook page, "Lungs For Libby," that tracked her journey through her surgery, and it soon reached over 50,000 followers.

Two and a half months after coming home, Libby fell terribly ill and was transported back to Duke Hospital. Libby fought hard, and after a long battle, she went home to be with our Bethany on March 17, 2017. Her family has created a non-profit organization in her honor called "Live Like Libby-Love Like Libby Foundation" and the Kappa Xi chapter adopted it as one of their chapter philanthropies in 2017. We strive every day to live like Libby and to love like Libby.
